About Matwork Pilates

Clinical Pilates is a form of physical exercise that focuses on posture, core stability, balance, control, strength, flexibility, and breathing. Current literature demonstrates strong evidence to support the use of therapeutic exercise in the management of injuries and advocates the retraining of the deep stabilizing muscles for clients with low back pain. Clinical Pilates focuses on the retraining and recruitment of these stabilizing muscles (core stability) as well as improving posture, strength and flexibility
Clinical Pilates instructed by an exercise physiologist (as distinct to generic Pilate’s classes) identifies key issues by applying carefully selected exercises to improve postural alignment and stimulate appropriate muscle activation for correct balance that is transferrable to activities in everyday daily living.
If you are interested in commencing Pilate’s specific for an injury or chronic pain, it is essential to have a review with an exercise physiologist to assess the suitability of the program for you.

Please note that a medical certificate may be required to participate in this activity.
