Jason Skennerton

Assistant Manager and Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Jason is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a passion for providing healthy lifestyle interventions for all individuals. Jason has a special interest in gait and posture retraining together with lower spine and hip rehabilitation.  Jason is an older adult prescription specialist and is able to assess and implement effective and safe exercise programs for both individuals and groups.

Erik Cain

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Erik is a qualified and accredited exercise physiologist who has a particular interest in sport specific exercise programing and tailoring programs for individuals impacted by cognitive decline, spinal cord injuries and neuromuscular conditions. Erik provides practical advice for the implementation of targeted exercise programs to assist the individuals return to functionality. Erik heads our boxing classes for older adults which is a 50min class focused on cardio, bone, cognitive health and balance.

Renee Weller

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Renee has a special interest in community based exercise interventions and has been at the forefront of these programs being run at the Burnie Brae Centre. Renee has been implementing Rehabilitative Clinical Pilates Classes across both of the Healthy Connections Clinics.

Tom is a recent graduate of Exercise Physiology and has a particular interest in the management of medical conditions through specifically prescribed exercise programs. Tom has recently joined the Healthy Connections research team and assists with the delivery of strength and balance exercises to reduce the progression of disability for the older adult.

Research Manager

Dr Sharon Hetherington is an exercise physiologist and researcher whose specialist study area is the impact of a physically active life on healthy ageing. Sharon has experience in research design, computer-aided data collection and statistical analysis.

Maddie is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist currently working with the Muscling Up Against Disability research program. She has a keen interest in pain management, neurological rehabilitation and hydrotherapy based exercise programs. Maddie is passionate about assisting people to maintain their independence and mobility through pain management education and tailored exercise programs.

Emily became an Exercise Physiologist because of her love of helping individuals achieve their goals through the help of prescribed exercise. Research has become one of her many roles at the clinic where she assists with the implementation of specific strength exercises for the over 65’s.
